Media Servers - CX Series
The CX Series is a family of powerful, scalable, industry standards based media servers, designed to deliver the full range of voice and media services solutions in both traditional circuit switched networks and the most advanced VoIP environments. They are NEBS compliant, carrier class platforms, delivering the highest levels of performance and reliability. CX Series systems provide N+1 redundancy at the component and system level and are able to provide a zero downtime environment in properly configured network installations.
The CX Series supports multiple simultaneous switch interfaces in the TDM environment. VoIP packet support includes:
- RTP/RTCP
- MGCP v1.0
- PacketCable™ NCS
- SIP/VoiceXML
The CX Series media servers come in three different sizes:
CX500 | CX1000 | CX4000
CX500
The CX500 is the most compact (2U) and cost-effective member of the CX Series Network Media Server family. CX Series systems are uniquely designed to deliver network media and voice applications services in both TDM and AIN circuit switched networks and in VoIP packet and converged network environments.
Carrier class, NEBS compliant CX500's can be affordably configured in redundant LAN environments to provide zero downtime in the event of a single system failure.
CX500 network interfaces include one T1 board slot. A Dual/Quad T1/ISDN PRI Mezzanine Card (PMC) can support an additional two/four T1/ISDN PRI TDM connections or ISDN-N12 compliant PRI's.
Dual LAN support and a powerful VoIP Media Resource Processing Engine allows the CX500 to deliver the most advanced, yet cost-effective VoIP media server resources available today.

CX1000
CX Series systems are uniquely designed to deliver network media and voice application services in both TDM and AIN circuit switched networks as well as in VoIP and converged environments. The CX1000 is the medium sized member of the Cognitronics Exchange Series Network Media Server Family. At 3U, the CX1000 provides additional TDM capacity over the CX500.
Carrier class, NEBS compliant CX1000's can house up to 3 hot swappable T1 network interface cards. A Dual/Quad T1/ISDN PRI Mezannine Card adds additional power and flexibility to the CX1000.
Dual LAN support and a powerful VoIP Media Resource Interface PMC will deliver the most advanced, yet cost effective VoIP Media Server capabilities available today.
Application support (examples) includes:
- IVR/DTMF processing
- Network announcements
- VoiceXML applications

CX4000
The CX4000 Network Media Server is the most powerful and versatile member of the CX Media Server family and is designed specifically to meet the media server workload demands of tomorrow's high performance, high function VoIP networks as well as traditional AIN and circuit switched networks, and converged environments.
In just a 5U package, the CX4000 holds up to 6 next generation, media server boards, each with its own standalone, onboard network interface and application processing capabilities:
- VoIP Media Board
- Dual 100 Mb/s LAN output
- Onboard VoIP network management
- VoIP Resource Media Server Board
- MultiResource Processing Engine
- Multiple DSP, vocoder resources
- Quad T1/ISDN PRI Media Server Board
- Up to 96 T1 ports per board
